Where did the workday go?
StaffMonitor logs app usage, idle time, and productivity trends for every device your team runs, and turns it into a record you can actually audit.
No credit card. We'll email you when access opens, nothing else.
Paid hours, accounted for
Every hour StaffMonitor finds that wasn't going toward real work is an hour you're already paying for. Teams typically spot that gap in the activity timeline within the first week, then redirect the time or cut the cost.
That's a line item in payroll, the kind finance can actually verify.
Illustrative, scaled from the 13% figure above to a standard work week.
What the dashboard answers
Every metric traces back to one loggable event. No productivity score you can't inspect the inputs of.
A per-device, minute-by-minute record of active and idle time, built from input events and foreground-window changes. Not estimates.
Time is attributed to the application or domain in use and matched against a maintained list of 10,000+ known tools, with a simple override for anything internal.
Keyboard and mouse inactivity past a configurable threshold gets logged as idle, separate from active time, so reports don't inflate hours.
Off by default. When enabled, captures are blurred at rest and only unblurred on explicit review, with every unblur written to the audit log.
Flags on thresholds you set: a device idle during logged hours, an unapproved application, a spike in off-hours activity.
Weekly and monthly summaries export as CSV or PDF, scoped per employee, team, or project. Built for payroll reconciliation and client billing alike.
No professional services required
A signed installer for Windows, macOS, and Linux, pushed via your existing MDM or run as a single command. Each device shows up in the dashboard within a minute of first launch.
Choose what's tracked, during which hours, and for whom. StaffMonitor shows a persistent tray indicator and a one-time disclosure screen on every monitored device. There is no silent mode.
Dashboards update continuously. Pull a report when you need one, or schedule a recurring export to whoever should see it: a manager, a client, your payroll system.
Built for an audit, not a sales call
Monitoring employees is regulated in most jurisdictions. Disclosure and data minimization are the starting point, not a settings page added after launch.
A persistent indicator runs on every monitored device for as long as tracking is active. Hidden or stealth mode isn't a supported configuration.
Workspace data sits on servers in the EU by default, with US residency available for teams that need it.
TLS 1.3 between agent and server, AES-256 at rest. Screenshots, when enabled, are encrypted separately from activity metadata.
Every dashboard view, export, and screenshot unblur is attributed to a named account and written to an audit log your admins can review.
Set a hard retention window per data type: activity logs, screenshots, exports. Data past the window is deleted on a daily job, not on request.
A data processing agreement, a documented legal-basis worksheet for Article 88 and equivalent works-council requirements, and an employee-facing disclosure template, included with every plan.
StaffMonitor provides the technical controls. Whether and how you deploy employee monitoring is a legal question for your jurisdiction, and we're not a law firm. Talk to one before rolling this out to a works council or unionized workforce.
Questions we get asked first
Does this actually pay for itself?
Most teams find paid hours that weren't going toward real work within the first week of deployment. Cutting even a fraction of that difference covers the cost of the product many times over, and it shows up directly in payroll spend.
Is this legal to use on my employees?
In most jurisdictions, yes, with disclosure and a documented legal basis. That's why StaffMonitor ships a persistent on-device indicator, a disclosure template, and a legal-basis worksheet rather than leaving that to you. Rules differ by country and by whether a works council is involved, so check with counsel before deployment, especially in the EU and for unionized workforces.
Can monitoring run hidden, without the indicator?
No. The tray indicator and first-run disclosure can't be turned off. If your use case requires covert monitoring, StaffMonitor is not the right product.
What exactly gets logged?
Foreground application and window title, the domain of the active browser tab, keyboard and mouse activity as an idle signal (not keystroke content), and, if you enable it, periodic blurred screenshots. We don't log keystroke content, passwords, or clipboard data.
Does it work for contract staff too?
Yes. Several of our private beta testers use it to verify contractor and agency hours against invoiced time, the same way they'd track in-house staff.
Which operating systems are supported?
Windows 10/11, macOS 13+, and major Linux distributions (Debian/Ubuntu-based and Fedora-based) at general availability. Mobile device support is on the roadmap, not in the first release.
Can employees see their own data?
Yes, if you enable self-view in policy settings. Employees get read access to their own activity timeline and screenshots, which several beta customers use to pre-empt disputes.
